Our first visit to the Tree since just before Christmas.

BEAUTIFUL DAY :-)

As always, it wasn't raining and soon after we got there the sun came out making it a beautiful Spring Afternoon.

URGENT WORK!

The first, pretty urgent job when we arrived was for Kev to sort out the dead tree trunk be-decked with Ivy which had broken off and was hanging across in front of the PRS Memorial. Sadly it was such a "Oh No! We Must get this done!" moment that I forgot to take any photos!

Once that was done, Kev polished the Bronze (above right) which also meant cleaning off the candle wax which had dripped all down the front of the granite plinth (left).

PLEASE ...

If you light candles at the site, particularly if they are on the Bronze Bust Plinth or the PRS Memorial Base, please unsure that any wax which drips is cleaned off before you go & don't leave candles burning where they can cause damage and/pr possibly cause a fire.

CLEANING & POLISHING

Then it was time to Tidy the Site, clearing away the leaves which had built up around the PRS Memorial so that the Memorial Base & Memorial could be cleaned. As you can see, its amazing how 'mucky' things get if left! I guess it's one of the disadvantage of the site being between two road & very near the railway line. There is a lot of 'particulate matter' in the air!

That's why we always have to take polish, cleaners, dusters, a brush & broom with us when we visit the site & we always visit a few days before September 16th so that the site looks nice even if people arrive early.

RUBBISH ...

Sadly not all visitors take their rubbish away with them so we tidied that up too and in all went home with FOUR big bags, full of assorted debris.

So when you visit the site please take your rubbish home with you. Why not take a spare carrier bag or two & take any other rubbish away too?

HARMING THE TREE

Left & Right you can see the engraving which has been done on top of the Felt Tip Pen Graffiti on the Tree itself.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ... The entire centre of any tree is dead (like our fingernails or hair). It is the bark & directly under the bark which is alive. That is how Trees grow. Injuring the bark is to risk introducing infections. Whoever did this acted with total selfishness.

For the sake of The Tree & those fans who have not been able to visit it yet - please do not harm it.

THE DWORN * ...

I noticed straight away that 'The Dworn' was missing.

Fortunately Kevin found him thrown in the undergrowth a distance off & we were able to restore him to his rightful place - keeping an eye on the site.

FINALLY, THE SITE IS TIDY!

NEXT WORK TO BE DONE AT THE TREE SITE:

CHANGING THE ORNAMENTAL GRAVEL

The next time we're at the Tree Site we will be changing the ornamental gravel surrounding the PRS Memorial as it has got rather dirty. You can see the difference by looking at the photos left & right (taken in 2002).

GRAFFITI REMOVAL

The next time we're at the Tree Site we will have to clean off the Graffiti left last September which still hasn't faded after over six months!

We are the first to invite everyone to leave their own tributes at the site, but think indelible felt tip pen just makes the site look ugly & gives the impression that Marc Bolan's fans are no more than vandals!

IT DOES MEAN A LOT & MAKES THE WORK WORTHWHILE.

Laser Love to all our visitors who leave the site as they found it :-)
