Marc's 28th Anniversary is always a day of emotions. You can see from the photo gallery images (below) that the day itself was dry with some dappled sun shine until about 6:00pm when it turned chilly and it was easy to see that Autumn was setting in.
Kev & Fee of TAG enjoyed some lovely chats with fans at the site. It is always wonderful to meet so many nice people. :-) Some, like Billy we know from his many visits to the Tree. It is always especially nice to meet fans who haven't been to the Tree Site, or haven't been since TAG was granted the lease in 2000.
Billy entertained with his Bolan songs much to the delight of all :-) It is gratifying to hear from Billy who visits the site often to play, that whenever he is there people stop to chat to him as he plays his own tribute to Marc :-)
There were some beautiful new tributes left on the Notice Board and the Wooden Skirt around The Tree. It's great to see so many tributes to the point that the notice board is so full there are messages on the back too :-)
TAG raised enough money to commission the plaques themselves & to buy the materials needed to make the Plaque Mounts. However, when we got quotes to have these made they were too expensive. So, as with previous TAG Projects it fell upon TAG Chairman Kev to realise the project on the budget we had. This he did wonderfully & this is one of the reasons I presented him with a Presentation on September 17th.
As it's a 120 mile round trip from Brighton to London, we had planned to install the plaques on Wednesday 14th September. This would allow us a day a home before travelling to the Tree on both Friday 16th & Saturday 17th September. However, it was not to be.
The Mounting Boards were not completed until 9:30 pm on the evening of Wednesday 14th September, so that they had to be fitted on Thursday September 15th! This tied us to travelling 360 miles in three days as we covered Marc's song 'London Boys' with the line "London to Brighton then back again".
As it turned out it was wonderful to be at The Tree on Thursday September 15th because we met some lovely people that day. They included a South African (sorry, I forgot your name) who saw the Bronze recently & just had to show a friend. "Isn't it a wonderful likeness?" he said.
We also met William from Northern Island with his friend from Scotland. William is a regular TAG customer so it was lovely to be able to put a face to the name. They had arrived expecting to find the plaques in place. Instead, they found Kev installing them! William was delighted to be able to take photos and video of them actually being fitted. We also met other fans including another Irish fan, though this time resident in England. We had expected the site to be quite, being the daytime in the week, but as it was, there was always someone for me to chat to (while Kev got on with the hard work!)
Nevertheless, by the end of September 15th everything was done - just in time for TAG to fulfil our promise that the plaques would be installed by September 16th!
