We arrived at Marc's Shrine in mid-afternoon with overcast skies which cleared while we were there,so that by the time we left it was a lovely dappled sunlit evening close to sunset. We took a new wooden slat (already painted) to replace the one which we knew had been stolen when we saw a video on the internet posted since our last visit less than one month earlier on the 29th April, 2011. We knew we needed to replace the slat and so had taken all the various tools to do the job as well as the usual cleaning and polishing things, plus dustpan and brush, yard broom etc. |
It is tragic that some people who consider themselves 'fans' are so inconsiderate they act in a manner which may well reduce the life-span of the thing they have come to visit! In the example below you can clearly wee how CINDY S JOSE from Fort Worth Texas has used a Biro (ballpoint pen) to Engrave her message into the bark. The Tree is far from well, as the Pollarding of the Tree Photo Gallery shows only too clearly. ANY and ALL damage to the bark risks infections getting into The Tree. As it is you can clearly see that the dry spring has caused the bark to crack which is not a good thing, and the engraving of messages into the bark is quite simply SELFISH.
