MARC BOLAN'S ROCK SHRINE - APRIL - 2022

TAG VISIT TO CLEAN, TIDY & DISCUSS THE BRONZE BUST POSITIONING

Before TAG submitted the Planning Application costing £120.00: Kevin and Fee Warner visited Marc's Shrine for the usual clean, tidy and polish and to discuss the positioning of the Bronze Bust on the architect-drawn plans used in 2000 for the steps project planning application. This was fortunate because TAG's original location for the Bronze Bust was at the bottom of the steps on the left-hand-side to 'balance' the site with the Bronze Bust on the left. The steps in the middle and the PRS Memorial to the right of the site.

Unfortunately, the residents objected to that location and specified that they wanted it at the top of the steps, thus drawing attention back up the steps and away from their private road - Gipsy Lane. The residents also stipulated a maximum height for theBronze Bust. So that the planning application would not be rejected by Richmond Council, TAG submitted the planning application with the Bronze Bust position exactly in the location and at the height the residents stipulated.

Extending Barnes Common Conservation Area: On the 10th May 2002 Richmond Council extended the area of Barnes Common Conservation Area to include The triangle of land bounded by Queen's Ride, The private section of Gipsy Lane including houses #8, #9, #10 and #11, and Gipsy Lane (public highway) thus meaning that Marc Bolan's Rock Shrine became part of Barnes Common Conservation Area. You can see a map of the area, together with an image from the Richond Council pdf below the photosgraphs from TAG's April 2002 visit along with a link to the Richmond Council pdf archived on our server.

In one way this was fabulous news, but it also meant that TAG would face far more restrictions n what can and cannot be done at the site, including what can be planted within the area. Regretably in the future a few people would not understand this and would try to suggest TAG had 'made-up' these restrictions.
There is further information regarding these restrictions and the campaign against TAG Here on sunflower--treefaerie-furguson-et-al.html
