GUARDIAN UNLIMITED: 1000 ALBUMS TO HEAR BEFORE YOU DIE
Naturally T-Rex was 'in there' with Electric Warrior :-) . They said: "A glam-rock classic, Electric Warrior cemented Marc Bolan's metamorphosis from acoustic hippy into sequin-faced, electric-guitar, strutting rock god. His lyrical blend of fantasy, poetry, humour and sexual energy inspired Morrissey, while Johnny Marr and Noel Gallagher have both clearly studied Bolan's riffs"

This is in German (mostly) but if you can read German then you'll find it interesting. If you run it through 'Babelfish' then it's slightly understandable. MARC ON GMTV
This News item was reported today (27th November) on the Club Forums by Club Member Barbara "Did anybody notice this morning that GMTV are using Marc Bolan and The Final Word, to introduce their Entertainment Today slot, on breakfast TV? Very Happy - I thought it was very well presented, with some great shots of Marc. Very Happy - The way it's worded made me think, for a split second of how things would have been, if Marc had lived on, as they use the words "Entertainment Today - as presented by Marc Bolan - The Final Word ..........." " Many Tanx for that Barbara :-)

MARC IN DECEMBER'S CLASSIC ROCK MAG
Another Report from a Club Member - this time Shades: "Marc is featured in the December issue of Classic Rock. There is a full page advert for 'The Final Word' DVD. On the ad it says 'The Original Superstar'. The DVD also gets reviewed and is given 8/10. Also the 'Bolan At The Beeb' CD gets reviewed and is given 7/10. It's said to be historically fascinating " Many Tanx for that :-)

OK THAT'S ALL FOR THIS UPDATE
There is more more 'General News' to go up, plus a whole bunch of New Photo Galleries, Sound Files, Articles, Clippings and Scans to be added to the Club Site, which I'll be getting on with ASAP now I'm feeling quite like the 'old me' :-) Many Tanx for the 'Get Well' Wishes - That is so Sweet of Everyone

MARC BOLAN: THE FINAL WORD
Release of this DVD has been delayed. It will now be released on the 12th November, 2007.

CHILDREN IN NEED: HOLLYOAKS: MARC BOLAN MEDLEY
Four members of the Hollyoaks cast are to perform a Marc Bolan medley at this year's Children In Need.
Gerard McCarthy, Kevin Sacre, Loui Batley and Summer Strallen – who play Kris Fisher, Jake Dean, Sarah Barnes and Summer Shaw in the Chester-based soap – are in the process of rehearsing a string of T-Rex songs including the iconic 'Children of the Revolution' to mark the 30th anniversary of Marc Bolan's death.
Speaking of the forthcoming performance, McCarthy told Digital Spy: "I hope viewers are looking forward to the guys and girls of Hollyoaks performing and singing live for such a good cause. "We're honoured to be singing songs from such a great artist alongside a host of established performers such as Spice Girls, Westlife and the Sugababes." A source commented: "The guys had their first vocal session the other day with Children In Need's musical director. They'll be having their first choreography session at the end of the week and everything will soon come together." Hollyoaks Producer Bryan Kirkwood added: "Hollyoaks is always happy to lend its help to good causes and Children In Need is about the best one there is. It's also a great opportunity to show that our cast aren't just actors but all-round performers."
Children In Need will air on Friday, 17th November on BBC One from 7:00 pm. Tanx to Club Member Shades for the info.

THE SUN: REVIEW OF 'BOLAN AT THE BEEB' - 2nd NOVEMBER 2007
Yes the Sun reviewed it and gave it 4 out of 5. Shame the proof reading department (which actually I'm sure the Sun don't actually have) didn't spot the 'gaff' "was a complete of hippie". Info by Club Member Colm - Many Tanx.

RICHMOND & TWICKENHAM TIMES: STORM IN A TEA CUP
A gentleman by the name of 'Mr. Fell', contacted the Richmond & Twickenham Times to complain that 'The Tree' was a distraction to drivers. TBut don't worry. Mr. Fell's comments were not taken seriously by Richmond Council or the Richmond & Twickenham Times. The articled does feature a lovely photo of Marc's Bronze Bust :-)
Read the Article Here. Tanx to Club Member Delf for the link.
Please: If you want to leave a comment, please ensure it is civil. Ones which contained swearing and threats have already been, quite rightly removed from the newspaper's web site.

RICHMOND & TWICKENHAM TIMES: 16th SEPTEMBER 2007
While we were at the newspaper's web site we checked out the coverage from Marc's 30th Anniversary: Tributes to T-Rex legend by Dan Menhinnitt :-).

BE WARNED: OLD DVD REPACKAGED!
We were contacted by one of our Club Members who made the mistake of buying the 'New DVD' The Marc Bolan Story only to discover it is actually the 2005 'Ride On' DVD repackaged. The Amazon Review of this is as follows: "NOT re-told NOT Revealed. If you have already the DVD RIDE ON then don't get fooled into thinking this is anything new. Oh yes has something new A NEW COVER. This is same as 2005 release brought even as DVD screen comes on for you to play still says RIDE ON complete rip off. They brought it out for his 30th anniversary as all new. Even the CD with un-heard tracks are the same tracks with far too much bass to play. Don't waste your money on this fast buck tripe."
Needless to say, you won't find this DVD with its rather 'tacky' & 'tasteless' re-enactment of the very last moments of Marc's life listed in our Amazon Current Recommendations!
STAR RATING: -

ANOTHER RE-ISSUE
The 'Inside T-Rex - A Critical Review' (see right) Double DVD has been repackaged as 'T-Rex - Music In Review - An Independant Critical Review' (see left)
This will not be too everyone's taste as it is as the name suggests a Critical Review so there is praise, but tempered with criticism because not everything Marc ever did was as Good as his Best Music! This Double DVD does feature interview footage with me (Fee Warner - TAG Founder & Secretary) & I have to say it was nice to meet fans who told me they thought I was "spot on" with what I said :-) Both Versions of this release are available - click the images above, although you're recommended to get the New Version

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROLAN - TODAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2007
Today is Rolan Bolan's 32nd Birthday. So Happy Birthday Rolan! xxxxxxxx

GOLD RADIO ON SUNDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER
I received this message which I thought everyone would be interestd in:
"To mark what would have been Marc Bolan's 60th Birthday on 30th September, Gold Radio will be broadcasting some very special programming. First up we have delved into our archives to bring to air, for the first time in 32 years, Marc Bolan's "Takeover" session. It was recorded by our sister station Capital Radio in 1975, just after his period as a tax exile and 2 years before his death. In the show he plays out a selection of songs by some of his favorite artists at the time including: Mott the Hoople, Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder 10CC, John Lennon and Johnny Nash. He talks of his early inspiration of watching Hendrix, his friendship with David Bowie and his love of Motown. He chooses a track called "If I were your Woman" written by Gloria Jones and plays the then "new" T-Rex single "New York City".
This is followed by a one hour Marc Bolan documentary.
The Marc Bolan Takeover goes out at 00.00 on Sunday 30th September, followed by the documentary at 01.00 on Monday 1st October.
In addition, David Jensen's recent interview with Gloria Jones is now available as a downloadable podcast.
Gold Radio is available on the following digital platforms:
On DAB Digital Radio and local MW / AM
On Digital TV: Sky 0121, Virgin Media 959 & Tiscali 611

TAG's 'THERE WAS A TIME' TYRANNOSAURUS REX CDTOMORROW - 23RD SEPTEMBER
Tomorrow is the 40th ANNIVERSARY of the debut gig by Marc Bolan & Steve Took as Tyrannosaurus Rex at the Legendary Middle Earth Club, Covent Garden, London.
This was released on the TAG record Label (our first ever release) and then reissued by Voiceprint Records, but still on the TAG Label for the 35th anniversary in 2002. It is sadly now out of print.
We are proud to have been able to release this Unique Historical Piece with many Tanx to Club Member Mick Gillings and Alan Walls who recorded the original gig.

The CD got a pretty 'Rave' Review from Dave Thompson for All Music Guide, which can be read with another review Here.
Further Information can also be read Here.
Many Tanx to Club Member David Mantell for reminding us of this anniversary :-)

The most amazing thing was that Rollo the Arch Druid of Stonehenge (who along with Vicky who lives opposite Anton's mum) performed the Ceremony inside the Sacred Stones of Stonehenge as part of our Historic Marc Bolan Celebration on Friday the 14th September was actually at that gig It's a small world eh? :)

JEWISH CHRONICAL ARTICLE: Bolan, the star who made pop music fun
This article appeared in the Jewish Chronical dated Thursday 7th September 2007.
On being Jewish: Marc's brother, Harry Feld, says: "Marc and I were very close. Our dad's family was Jewish, but he married out so we grew up with the Old and New Testaments. My mum taught us to read the Bible, but we weren't practising Jews, although Marc did refer to himself as Jewish, and his friends were all from Stamford Hill. We only went to synagogue for funerals, weddings or barmitzvahs. We were just taught to be law-abiding and believe in God. We came to our own conclusions"
The article can be read Here as part of the updated MARC BOLAN INFO.Section (see above) as it is such an Important Article with Essential Information & Interviews about Marc's Religous Upbringing!

GERMAN CLUB MEMBER WERNER IN THE NEWS

The same day the London Evening Standard article was published a German Newspaper article was also published featuring one of TAG's original and most generous supporters: Werner Schwebig.

This feature which spans almost the entire page gives details of TAG, the Bronze Bust & Werner's donation towards building the steps way back in 1999. Nice One Werner.

Club Members can access/download a 200 dpi scan Here along with a larger version of the photo on the right of Werner from the newspaper web site (which sadly only contains a trunkated version of the artcle).

LONDON EVENING STANDARD
On Friday 14th September, 2007 the London Evening Standard ran a piece SHINY SHRINEY PEOPLE written by David Smyth their chief rock and pop critic. He writes a column about pop on Fridays. Last week he told me "this week I was hoping to spend some time at Marc Bolan's tree in Barnes, to write about this focus for fans of the man as we approach the anniversary of his death.". The article was published while we were at Stonehenge for Marc's Celebration. Our daughter Ellie was somewhat disgruntled to be called a "Devoted Fan" because for the children of most Marc Bolan fans he means dancing to music, but for our two children it means WORK as can be seen here! ITV 20TH CENTURY BOY DOCUMENTARY
Well this wasn't too bad, given that it was only 30 minutes less adverts long. Some nice unseen footage though, particularly Warlord of the Royal Crocodiles by Marc & Steve :-) And also nice for us to see Harry walking up the steps that TAG Built past the Bronze we installed and Rolan Unveiled in 2002 (even if ITV didn't get in touch as they should have to let us know about the filming!) Club Members can watch it on-line now (with the adverts edited out of course) by simply clicking Here.
This hasn't been listed on our Video Page but will be after we get back from London.

TAG SHOP & MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS/RENEWALS
Sorry - Due to all the activities related to Marc's 30th anniversary the 'tag shop' is currently closed. It will reopen when we get back to London on Tuesday 18th September Applications by those who apply to join the club/renew their membership will also be processed on the 18th September, 2007.We apologise in advance for the delay. As legal guardians of marc's rock shrine, now officially recognised by the english tourist board as a sight of rock 'n' roll importance, we have a duty to be there early to make sure the site is looking its best beforehand and indeed to make sure it still looks its best after all the visitors have gone home.

MARC ON THE COVER OF RECORD COLLECTOR + TWO ARTICLES INSIDE
Yes it's True. There is a lovely Keith Morris Photo of Marc on the Cover. The first of the two articles entitled 'Memories of Marc' (pages 68 - 79) features in interview with Harry Feld on page 73 with two photographs supplied to Record Collector by TAG :-) They are:
1) Harry at the Born to Boogie VIP Premier after-screening Party
2) Rolan & Harry at Marc's Rock Shrine just moments after Rolan has unveiled our Bronze of his dad
The second article (pages 81 - 84) covers acetates of Marc's work.

MARC IN THE MEDIA
There have been lots of 'Marc Features' in various Newspapers & magazines. The best for us was the coverage in the current issue of the Radio Times with a terrific photo of Rolan Sitting next to the Bronze Bust with the Tree in the background on Page 26! Scans of these will be added to the Club Site after the anniversary Period :-) The Scan of Page 26 of the Radio Times will be available on the Free Site too as we're so chuffed to see our work recognised by Auntie Beeb :-) Tanx to Spike for collecting the 'News' posts from the forums and sending them to me even though I haven't had time to add most of them!

SHEPHERD'S BUSH EMPIRE GIG
Please don't Email us for tickets. Go to their site to buy online: www.shepherds-bush-empire.co.uk Rather strangely yesterday they only had 'Level 3' tickets, but as I write they are once again listing 'Stalls - Standing' tickets which I know will annoy those people who wanted 'Stalls - Standing' last week and were 'forced' to buy 'Level 3' tickets after being told they were the only ones left! If you are affected perhaps you should phone the Shepherd's Bush Empire up and see if you can switch ticket types!

NOTICE: RULES & RESTRICTIONS BY SHEPHERD'S BUSH EMPIRE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
"NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS
As a consequence of the ongoing terrorist threat to the UK mainland the Academy Music Group is requesting that all customers where possible do not bring bags etc to the venue. If you must bring such items we will insist that they are searched and subsequently deposited in our cloakroom. Furthermore in order to avoid any disruption to your evening's entertainment could all customers please ensure that they do not leave any items unattended. We are sure your appreciate the reasoning behind this policy and we look forward and appreciate your cooperation."

GOLDERS GREEN LONDON 'BOP' - DISAPPOINTMENT
Please don't Email us for tickets. We are nothing to do with the organisation of this event. Go to the fan club site for info. We have been notified that the 'Bop' venue has been changed from the 113 Club back to the Club Extreme, especially given this review of the 'Bop' at the Club Extreme last year:-
"we received quite a few complaints over the site of the London Bop (nothing to do with organizers) But sadly it appears Klub Extreme has changed hands and is close to a DUMP now. Toilets the patrons wouldn't/'couldn't use, beer/soda soaked floors quite a few people left there and met up in another Pub - lets Hope next years BIG anniversary will be moved to a Club befitting Marc Bolan and his Fans!!"
But those of us with Tickets will be arriving hoping conditions have improved although the Club Extreme is scheduled to be demolished and indeed had the demolition work gone ahead on time would already have gone as I write this!

ITV 30 MINUTE MARC BOLAN PROGRAMME
This wll be broadcast on Saturday 8th September. Harry Feld phone me yesterday and we had a nice chat. He told me that the TV company had filmed him at The Tree. Needless to say once again the TV company didn't get in touch with us to let us know they were using the site for their own commercial gain, even though we spent a great deal of our time free-of-charge keeping the site looking nice enough for them to want to film there! And of course as they didn't get in touch this means that they didn't offer TAG a donation towards the upkeep of the site even though money as well as time is spent on the site :-(

GERMAN MEDIA COVERAGE OF MARC THIS ANNIVERSARY
Club Member Spike and I were interviewed yesterday by a German reporter (a lovely lady by the name of Barbara) who is doing a piece for German Radio (the equvilant to the BBC) and as a 'freelance' journalist had also just received the news that she has been commissioned to write a pice for one of the National German Newspapers. I'll post full details of the broadcast date for the Radio Feature and the Newspaper publication date as soon as they are confirmed. Barbara also took some photos including ones of myself, Spike, and fellow TAG Club Members Ruth and Carmen (who had been in the country literally a couple of hours having just arrived in England fro San Francisco ready for all the 30th anniversary events). No idea which one will be used for the paper though I'm looking forward to getting copies of all them them soon :-) As always happens when we're at the Tree other Bolan fans arrived to visit so Barbara was able to interview them too. Naturally I gave Barbara a copy of theEnglish Tourist Board guide England Rocks featuring Marc's Rock Shrine (listing #32) :-)

Get it on with 6 Music's Marc Bolan Day Friday 14th September

Across the day on BBC 6 Music you will hear some rare Marc Bolan gems from the BBC archives including Marc reading some of his own poetry on the late John Peel' Radio show from June 1969
